Dubai Electricity and Water Authority on January 1, 1992, according to a decree issued by the late His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to merge Dubai Electricity Company and Dubai Water Department, which had been operating independently for many years, and that were established in 1959 Dubai has full support for the Electricity and Water Department to provide the electricity and water that Dubai citizens and residents need continuously and in a stable manner
The basic philosophy pursued by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is to look to the future always and prepare for it with scientific planning in order to meet the growing consumer demand for electric power and water. By applying this policy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority was able to move forward in serving consumers, and as such it plays its role in contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of Dubai.
