The Saudi Ophthalmological Society (SOS) was established by order of the President of King Saud University on 2 Muharram 1406H (September 16, 1985), with its first meeting held at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital on 30 January 1986. As one of the first Saudi scientific medical societies and the only Ophthalmology-focused association, SOS has significantly benefited ophthalmologists in Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries. Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH Prince Ahmed bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, the society remains committed to advancing ophthalmology through education, research, and high-quality eye care in alignment with national healthcare objectives.
