The people of Riyadh hosted a huge reception in honor of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to mark his 100 days in office. The reception was held at the sports stadium of King Saud University in the capital. Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, and other senior officials were present to receive the king when he arrived at the venue.
In his welcoming speech, Prince Faisal commended King Salman’s leadership role in Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope. He also noted the king’s efforts to boost the Kingdom’s development in all sectors. “You are the leader of an important country, which is the heart of the Islamic world. Muslims all over the world turn in prayer toward the Holy Kaaba in Makkah,” the governor said, while praising the king’s endeavors to strengthen Islamic unity. “Saudi Arabia holds an important position in the comity of nations and is well-known for its moderate policies. It works for peace and prosperity of people all over the world,” he added.
Prince Faisal highlighted the remarkable administrative experience gained by the king through his close association with the six previous kings including his father King Abdul Aziz. “You have always been part of the decision-making center and in the middle of political developments in the country,” he said. Prince Faisal also praised the king’s efforts to make Riyadh a world-class capital when he was the governor of the region. He also commended the king’s endeavors to enhance the progress and prosperity of citizens.
Khaled Al-Daghaither, who spoke on behalf of Riyadh people, noted the decisive decisions taken by the king since he took over power. He described Operation Decisive Storm as the first ever Arab and Islamic alliance in modern history. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Moaiqel, who spoke on behalf of Riyadh youth, said young Saudi men and women are proud of King Salman for taking courageous decisions.
