10KSA is a holistic health awareness initiative with a focus on breast cancer. As co-founder of this initiative, Dr. ModiBatterjee is gathering a group of 10KSA Ambassadors to promote early detection screening.
In an effort to encourage women to get check ups, 10KSA Ambassadors have organized an upcoming group mammogram session. These Ambassadors will gather at 10:00am on October 14th, 2015, at Sulaiman Fakih Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Sulaiman Fakih Hospital is offering one free mammogram for every mammogram that is paid for. Women are encouraged to go to Sulaiman Fakih Hospital and take advantage of this initiative.
The 10KSA Ambassadors believe making this appointment will help reduce the stigma and fear associated with mammograms. Breast cancer is diagnosed at later stages within the Kingdom. 10KSA aims to create awareness and education on holistic health to help reduce mortality, as Dr. Batterjee highlights, “breast cancer affects Saudi women at an alarming age of eighteen unlike Western women who are diagnosed at the age of 40 or 50 years old.”
As part of the 10KSA programming, on 12 December, 2015, 10,000 women will gather to form the World’s Largest Humanitarian Pink Ribbon (to be verified by Guinness Book of World Records) and engage in a half-day holistic health event at Princess Nora University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event’s atmosphere will be a festival of life and health integrating education and awareness.
10KSA is spearheaded by Alf Khair, a social enterprise founded by HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud.
