Jarrah Aljarrah, Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, said that 13 government entities are working to address the challenges facing the industrial sector due to unfair competition. They study these challenges and develop the appropriate tools to resolve them in a way that enables the sector, in partnership with several relevant government entities, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported.
Protection covers products from 1,339 factories in Saudi Arabia, realizing the National Industrial Strategy and its protection. He pointed out that government entities are working integrally to enhance industrial competition fairness, contributing to achieving the national industrial strategy and common national targets.
He emphasized that the application of tools and enablers is subject to intensive studies by the ministry, in partnership with relevant government entities, to prove the harm and verify the existence of any practices contrary to fair competition in the industrial sector. These tools depend on the form and type of harm, and they are reviewed periodically. The application of these tools begins after proving the harm and obtaining approval from the relevant government entities, in accordance with the governance practiced among these entities.
Aljarrah added that the ministry collaborates in addressing the challenges facing the industrial sector with other ministries such as Environment, Water and Agriculture, Economy and Planning, Energy, Investment, Finance, Commerce, as well as government entities like Foreign Trade, Saudi Standards Metrology & Quality Organization (SASO), Saudi Food and Drug Authority, General Authority for Competition, LCGPA, and ZATCA.
