Al Mouri leads the Hankook Racing team to the podium at the Dirab Drift Championship
Following a hiatus of five months, the Hankook Racing team managed to climb onto the podium in the first round of the championship at the Dirab Park in Riyadh
Al Mouri’s challenge raised the roof during the race on Saturday as he was able to climb to the podium to achieve third place for the team, which has given enormous hope to be able to achieve victories in future rounds. The Hankook Racing team, led by Saeed Al Mouri, was happy to qualify in eighth and ninth position due to the high level of competition, as well as enabling the squad to discover the weaknesses which it must improve. On Friday, Al Mouri finished in the points in fifth position, as drivers were trying to establish the level of competition. Mouri said: “It’s great after a long break to return to competition. We know all too well the advantage of the car but also the aspects that we must work on in order to improve and fight for first place.” He added: “We are aware that we want to be fighting for the very top positions and I know that with Hankook Racing we will return stronger in the future. This is what we will try to work on and focus for in the next few rounds.”
It should also be noted that Al Mouri did not manage to find the perfect set-up for his car, but when he does, he will undoubtedly make substantial progress. He added: “Other teams currently enjoy advantages and we know that we have to make progress. We still have a lot to gain by working on the set-up but, God willing, we will reach that level if we continue this progress. We will start competing for victories as soon as possible.” For his part, Mohammed Al Ourabi was delighted to represent Hankook Racing in the Drift series, stressing that his primary goal is to assist Mouri in collecting the greatest number of points for the team. He said: "It is amazing to represent Hankook Racing in the races. My goal now is to give the best to help Al Mouri to achieve the greatest amount of points in the championship during the races that I intend to participate.” It should be noted that the second round begins on 14 May 2015.
