Following an exciting and very passionate round, Captain Obaid Al-Anzi clinched the title of the “Saudi Drift Star Champion 2015” , which was held in Jeddah recently in the presence of a large number of motorsports fans and enthusiasts.
The final round was held at the track of the “Saudi International Motor Show” in Jeddah, under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation and the supervision of his Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Bandar Al Faisal, chairman of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, and sponsored by Mountain Dew, Nissan, Saudi Total and Alf Alf FM radio, and organized by the motorsport developer and the Saudi talent explorer, Captain Abdullah Bakhashab.
To ensure equality and impartiality of the tournament, all participants used cars of the same class and engine, where they used Nissan Z370, which were provided by the organizers.
The tournament consisted of four qualifying rounds held in different regions of Saudi Arabia, where the first round was held in Al-Hassa region, and the second round held in Al-Khobar, and the third round held in Riyadh, while the fourth and final rounds were held in Jeddah, in the western region.
Famous champions from Jeddah participated in the fourth qualifying round led by Captain Saeed Al-Moury and Captain Ahmed Bin Khanin, where they excelled in showing off their high driving and maneuvering skills.
However, the talented racer Mohammed Al-Orabi presented breathtaking driving skills and made the audience roared in excitement and joy.
Excitement and fierce competition sings were very obvious among the participants in the pilot phase, where they showed great determination to get the title of the Saudi Drift Star 2015.
Participants demonstrated high levels of drifting skills, and offered their best, which confused the referees and made it difficult for them to choose the best racer. Finally, the competition heated up between Abdulaziz Ba-Maas and Obaid Al-Anzi, where the later managed to win the final round and thus got the title of the tournament, while Ba-Maas came second, and Khalid Al-Zaid came third. The champion was crowned by Samir Sharfan, Head of Nissan Middle East.
On this occasion, Abdulelah Wazni, General Manager for Marketing and Communications in Nissan Saudi Arabia, expressed his thanks and appreciation for all parties whom participated in the success of this remarkable tournament, and said:” We, at Nissan, are very excited to contribute to the development of motorsports in Saudi Arabia and support the efforts that encourage the emergence Saudi talents in motorsport.”
