Ghazi Aurangzeb booked his ticket to the Grand Finals of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup as the latest stage of the world’s largest and most exciting corporate amateur golf tournament took place at Emirates Golf Club, Dubai on Tuesday 29th March.
The 11th of 101 qualifiers for the global event, which has gone from strength to strength since the inaugural tournament in 2013, featured 80 players, all personally-invited guests of the airline.
Mr. Ghazi Aurangzeb won the individual stableford competition with a fantastic 45 points, holding off a late challenge from playing partner Mr. Hasnain Dar who had to settle for outright second with a creditable 44 points. Mr. Aliraza Khimji won a four-way card playoff for third spot whilst Mr. Ashok Sindhu took home the Best Gross trophy following his three over par round of 75. Meanwhile, Ms. Soumaya Salem and Mr. Sandeep Singh won the nearest-the-pin prizes.

The first qualifiers took place in Dar Es Salaam, Mumbai and Doha in February and the 2016 series takes place across the globe, in destinations including Hong Kong, Great Britain, South Korea, Japan, China, Spain, the United States, Portugal, Italy, France, Greece, Argentina, Brazil and Turkey.
The overall winners of the Grand Final progress to play in the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open pro-am, while all finalists are to enjoy a seven-night stay in an all-inclusive hotel.
The event is backed by global sponsor the Financial Times, with Conte of Florence the Official Clothing and Fashion Partner.
Turkish Airlines, which was recently voted Best Airline in Europe for the fifth consecutive year, as well as World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge and World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining in 2015, launched the World Golf Cup in 2013.
It featured 12 qualifying events and was won by China’s Han Liang. His prize for victory was partnering world number one and 14-time major champion Tiger Woods in the Turkish Airlines Open pro-am. 2015 Johannesburg qualifier, Neill Bam proved successful at the 2015 Grand Final and went on to partner Rory McIlroy, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
