Noor Al Noman Receives Award from Belgian Ambassador to the UAE

‘Sharjah Land’, Sharjah Department of eGovernment’s (DeG’s) first-ever augmented reality project in aiding the younger generations learn their civic responsibilities through digital interaction, has been making a stir since its launch at GITEX Technology Week in October. 

The game’s principal architect and DeG’s Director, Noor Ali Al Noman, was recently recognised and honoured by the Belgian Ambassador to the UAE – Dominic Mineure – for her outstanding role and leadership in the conceptualisation, development and completion of Sharjah Land, during the Belgian Business Awards ceremony, held recently at Rixos the Palm Dubai, during the first-ever ‘Belgian Business Week’ in the UAE

Noman was presented a memento by the Ambassador for being the visionary behind the game and for her unfailing efforts in making Sharjah Land see the light of day, as she worked in collaboration the Belgian company, BUT. 

“I am elated to have received award, which to me is a recognition of the efforts of each one on the Sharjah Land game’s development and execution teams. We worked as a well-oiled machine throughout and in perfect unity with BUT to ensure the development of a high-end and enjoyable game,” said Noor upon receiving the award. 

“The game’s planning, design and execution were realised on a blueprint created using the latest international standards, to ensure the creation of a competitive and compatible app,” she added as she thanked Mineure and the organisers of the Belgian Business Awards.

 

This award is also DeG’s first international recognition in the field of 21st century digital innovations, and was received with jubilant celebrations by Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of DeG, and the rest of the departmental staff. 

Noor Al Noman's innovative idea for developing Sharjah Land, and her leadership and guidance to the DeG team in realising their innovative abilities were greatly appreciated. 

DeG developed Sharjah Land with a view to promoting the cultural and scientific values of the emirate, highlighting its cultural and historical landmarks through digital interaction with children in Sharjah and the UAE. The innovative game app combines education and entertainment, reinforcing the emirate's digital transformation.

The game app is available on both iOS and Android interfaces. It can be downloaded through the App Store on iOS smartphone and tablet devices, and through Google Play on Android smart devices.
