Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKDTA) is flexing its motorsports muscle with a co-sponsorship of British racing car driver Oliver Webb. The deal, in partnership with PureDrive Automotive focuses on Webb’s bid to compete for the championship of the 11th Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai endurance race – the first event of the international endurance season – taking place this weekend at the Dubai Autodrome.
Webb, who is a Le Mans Series Champion, and 2015 winner of the Dubai 24 hour race, has high podium hopes racing a Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
Oli is in practice for his first endurance honours of 2017 in Ras Al Khaimah, which is fast making a name for itself as sports and ultimate adventure destination, practicing on the steep, snaking mountain roads of the UAE’s northernmost emirate that were closed while he was driving.
“This year’s title bid has been made even more exciting through the Ras Al Khaimah pre-race build-up,” said Oli. “With incredible mountain roads and stunning natural landscapes, it’s going to be an adventurous few days of driving and adrenaline filled activities which are unique to the region.”
RAKTDA sees the sponsorship of a means of getting to the heart of an Xtreme sports and adventure community. Haitham Mattar, CEO of RAK TDA said, “Ras Al Khaimah is becoming increasingly known for its association with leading sporting and adventure enthusiasts. This visitor segment will be thrilled by the wide range of activities the emirate can offer. We look forward to hosting his stay over the next few days, and supporting him and his team on Friday during the 24 hour endurance race.”
The 11th Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai endurance race starts 2pm on Friday 13 January and finishes 24 hours later when the Champion will be crowned.
