The 4thSaudi Star Drift Championship will kick off Kingdom-wide amid fierce competition and excitement following the resounding success of the championship in the past three years. The championship consists of four rounds to be held all over the country and is organized by Abdullah Bakhashab, Saudi motorsport developer, under the supervision of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation (SAMF) and the sponsorship of Nissan Saudi Arabia, Total Saudi Arabia and Alif.Alif Radio Station.
The first round will take place on 10 November 2017at Al-Khobar Corniche, opposite to Fouad Center while the second round will be held on 24 November 2017 in Riyadh at Dirab Circuit. The third round will be launched in Al-Baha in December 2017 at Al-Aqeeq Area of King Fahd Road whereas the last round will take place in Jeddah on Wednesday and Thursday 20-21 December 2017 at the International Exhibition and Convention Center, Madinah Road.
Addressing a press conference, Bader Al-Houssami, CEO, Nissan Saudi Arabia said: “Nissan is proud to be pioneer in developing motor sport championships in the region, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are committed to sponsoring this championship which has been running for the past three years and developing the talents of youth who are have proved their capability and skills regionally and globally. Tarek Turk, Marketing Director, Total Saudi Arabia said: “Total is keen to support and sponsor such championships in line with Total Global strategy focusing on supporting youth sports. We are committed to developing all types of youth sports in the Kingdom, especially the ones that are very popular among youngsters. We participated in sponsoring Hail Rally and noticed that the sport was very popular among youth. We want to expand our partnership in these events. We are glad to be part of such sports which attract a wide segment of youth under the supervision of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation.”

These events help hone Saudi young men’s skills and acquire more experience.”
More motor sports events should be organized in the Kingdom to allow a larger number of talented youth to take part and show off their skills. Drift championships are widely popular all over the Kingdom and has a lot of fans who love to watch drifts on public roads and drift circuits.
Talking about the championship, Bakhashab explained that the event comprises three categories — Professional, Advanced and Amateur. Four winners from each round will qualify for the final round. The winner of each category as well as the best participant competing in his own Nissan, will participate in the final round to be held in Jeddah and they will all compete onboard two Nissan Z cars in December provided by the organizer.
