Mercedes-Benz Vans MENA, together with Juffali Industrial Products Company (JIPCO), the exclusive General Distributor of Mercedes-Benz Vans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are showcasing the flagship Sprinter ambulance conversion equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems at the 4th Traffic Safety Forum and Exhibition.
Taking place from 11th - 13th December 2017 at the Sheraton Dammam Hotel & Towers, the forum covers traffic and transportation safety-related systems and aims to identify smart technologies that could be implemented in the region.
Traffic and transportation safety-related technologies have evolved through significant developments for the last two decades. In particular, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) based technologies related to both automotive and smart traffic control systems aim to reduce fatalities, injuries and property damages due to traffic accidents. The Sprinter has been the large van segment leader since 1995, offering a wide range of customisation options as well as new assistance and safety systems which are benchmark in terms of product quality, safety and reliability, from a European OEM perspective.
Thomas Greipel, General Manager, Mercedes Benz Vans MENA, said: “Safety is at the forefront of everything we do at Mercedes-Benz Vans, with our parent company, Daimler AG, investing heavily in research and development year on year. As well as ensuring our vans are equipped with the latest traffic safety enhancing technology the focus of Daimler AG’s R&D is to make sure Mercedes-Benz remains the industry leader in van safety.
“The Sprinter ambulance conversion we are showcasing at the 4th Traffic Safety Forum & Exhibition is outstandingly equipped for everyday emergency operations. Events such as these play an integral role in the advancement of traffic safety in the region and Mercedes-Benz Vans is proud to demonstrate the diversity of the Sprinter in providing unrivalled solutions.”
The Sprinter is the safest van in the large van segment, offering five safety systems that deliver support in critical mobile emergency situations and safe patient transport services. Reliable vehicles such as the Sprinter are essential to keep patients and medical equipment safe during those critical moments between the accident sites and hospitals. The Crosswind Assist is fitted as standard equipment in all Sprinter model variants. Its sensors measure the force of the gusts of wind that come from the side. The system then counteracts these forces, leading to a significant reduction in driver stress. Drivers feel safer and more comfortable as a result, and they do not overreact to gusts of wind. The other four safety innovations are the Lane Keeping Assist, the Blind Spot Assist, the High Beam Assist and the Collision Prevention Assist which alerts the driver if the van is too close to another vehicle or an obstacle.
“It is also important to design efficient and comfortable vehicles to ensure the driver can focus on the job. This is why all our vans in the region are mechanically modified to meet the heat, dust and local fuel quality. This allows drivers to enjoy peak performance with extreme high efficiency, giving them a superior driving experience. When you combine this with our safety systems, you’ll be able to get your job done as safely and efficiently as ever,” added Greipel.
Mercedes-Benz Vans offers the widest range of vans in the Middle East and North Africa, from a small urban delivery van to a large-size van, from a panel van to a 23-seater van. In addition to the Sprinter there are two other models available in the region: the Vito and the V-Class. Pioneering intelligent transportation in the region is a result of Mercedes’ strategy of adapting cutting-edge technologies and features to the demanding requirements of the region while maintaining Mercedes-Benz standards of quality, robustness and safety.
