The selection committees of the 41st session of King Faisal Prize will begin their meetings today (January 7th) to select the 2019 Laureates of the prize’s five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. These meetings continue for three days where in the last day (January 9th, 2019) a ceremony is held to announce the 2019 Laureates.
His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Chairman of King Faisal Prize Board will chair the Service to Islam committee made up prominent figures from all over the Islamic world. While the other four committees consist of highly esteemed scientist from all over the world specializing in the topics of each of the categories of the prize.
The General Secretariat had announced the topics for the 41st session of the King Faisal Prize back in September of 2017: Islamic Studies – Studies on the Objectives of Islamic Law; Arabic Language & Literature – Arabic Language and Contemporary Challenges; Medicine – Bone Biology and Osteoporosis; and Science – Chemistry.
