The running of du’s, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications
Company (EITC), annual Mawead Al Rahman initiative held extra significance this Ramadan as
the company celebrates and promotes cohesion and compassion throughout the UAE’s
communities during the Year of Tolerance.
Over the last five years, du has donated more than 55,000 boxes of essential food ingredients
to those in need across the UAE. In doing so, the telco’s Mawaed Al Rahman initiative has
positively impacted communities across the UAE as well as engaging thousands of volunteers to
donate their time for the greater good of the nation.
Abdulwahed Juma, EVP Brand & Corporate Communications, du, said: “It is heartening to see
that the spirit of compassion and giving is alive and well throughout the communities of the
UAE this season. We have helped promote these values for 12 years through our Mawaed Al
Rahman initiative, and in the Year of Tolerance we are proud to again be reflecting on the
virtue of unity bestowed to us by our leaders while also making an impactful effort towards
igniting a sense of charity within the social fabric of the nation.”
People from different backgrounds and ethnicities participated in the packing initiative for
2019; amongst those were the Consul General of Philippines, representatives from the Indian
Consulate, the Pakistan Association of Dubai, the Parish of St Francis of Assisi, as well as special
needs centres including Al Noor, Integreat and Tender Hearts Arena.
