MEWA: Poultry meat production up 9% to 558M kg in H1 2024

Saudi Arabia has made a new leap in the volume of poultry meat production during the first half of 2024, achieving a record production of 558 million kilograms, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 9%, from 511 million kilograms a year earlier, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) said in a statement received by Argaam.

The ministry explained that applying biosecurity measures in poultry projects and encouraging the use of modern technologies in production processes, contributed to developing the poultry sector and increasing local production.

The Agricultural Development Fund provides funding for the companies and institutions willing to expand in the poultry production industry of up to 70% of the investment cost with the use of modern technologies, the statement added.

MEWA also emphasized that the Kingdom is going forward in increasing self-sufficiency rates in poultry meat and is working according to an expansion plan aimed at pumping new investments into the sector, to increase production capacity, contribute to achieving national food security, enhance local content, and provide new job opportunities.

The Saudi ministry aims to achieve complete self-sufficiency in poultry products, and provide government facilities, support and lending packages through the Agricultural Development Fund, in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030
