25,000 teachers to be trained abroad

The Ministry of Education is set to train 25,000 teachers and employee as part of the King Abdullah Public Education Development Project.
Tatweer Education Holding, the company tasked with implementing the project, is expected to launch a new formal electronic portal soon for developing teachers’ skills.
Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, education minister, said that the King Abdullah program will send over 25,000 teachers abroad for a year-long training in the schools of developed countries so they can see the best modern practices.

The electronic portal will give interested teachers the opportunity to register their names as a part of the training program that will be conducted in developed countries.
The company has chosen prominent countries in the education sector such as the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Finland and Singapore where local teachers will be able to benefit from the experience.
Tatweer officials met with Prince Khaled and briefed him on the latest developments in the qualitative rehabilitation program that aims to develop the capacities for teachers and other staff members working in education such as school principals and supervisors.

The briefing included an introduction of the project and its main objectives. The project aims to build capable educational services and develope professional human resources through the practical training and opening up to the international experiences in this field to achieve a qualitative jump that was set by the strategic plan to develop the education sector in the Kingdom.

The project includes a model standards program for language skills, a vocational training program (training and experience in schools) as well as other scholarship programs for higher education seekers who show special talents, have finished their educational diplomas and meet the requirements needed to complete their master's and doctoral degrees.
The project for training teachers abroad will last for five years during which 5,000 teachers will be sent annually to receive training abroad.
