Under the patronage and the presence of HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of State for Tolerance, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organized a graduation ceremony for the eighth batch of its students at the university’s campus in Al Reem Island. 296 students graduated from bachelors and masters programmes.
On this occasion, Prof. Eric Fouache, Vice-Chancellor of Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “It is a rewarding experience to witness the success of our students while we accompanied them during their academic journey. Today, we proudly celebrate the graduation of 296 bachelor and master students as we send them towards a promising future. Sorbonne Abu Dhabi has been ‘a bridge between civilizations’ and home to over 90 different nationalities from around the world, therefore reflecting a very multicultural and tolerant environment. We are committed to offer our students the knowledge and skills they need to move forward and play active roles in their communities”.
Madalena Maria Morais, graduate of master in International Business and Languages programme from Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “Looking back at those two years now, I feel proud of what I have achieved so far. It was a long and demanding road but it was worth it! Sorbonne Abu Dhabi changed my life in so many ways! It helped me change my career path, enriched my knowledge, exposed me to an amazing multicultural atmosphere and connected me with people that will always be part of my life and my memories. I’m grateful for being given the opportunity to be part of such an amazing family!”
From her side Aisha Al Yazeedi, graduate of bachelor in Physics from Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi expressed her pleasure to be graduating and said: “Pursuing my physics degree at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi has definitely broadened my career path. It provided me with the tools and skills I need as a scientist in terms of deciphering physics problems and most importantly, it encouraged me to pursue my passion in the field of scientific discoveries”.
The graduation ceremony started with the National Anthems of the UAE and France before the graduates walked on stage. HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of State for Tolerance delivered a speech, then distributed the certificates to the graduates and congratulated them on completing their education, wishing them further success and progress. Prof. Barthelemy Jobert, President of Paris-Sorbonne and Chancellor of Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi delivered a speech and thanked HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan for attending the graduation of the eighth batch of Sorbonne Abu Dhabi’s students.
The methodology, education and degrees adopted by Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi follow the French Education System. The diplomas are issued by Paris-Sorbonne in the field of humanities; by Paris-Descartes in the field of law, management and economics; and by Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) in the field of sciences. All diplomas are accredited by the Ministry of Education in the UAE.
