The Haj Ministry, in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, has issued more than 300,000 Haj visas electronically to Haj pilgrims from abroad, local media said on Tuesday.
Issa Rowaas, Haj Ministry director-general and supervisor of the electronic portal, was quoted as saying that the Ministry closely followed the royal directives on providing electronic visas to Umrah and Haj pilgrims.
“The reason for adopting this system is to increase transparency, as well as follow up on performance. The electronic gateway has made it easier to deal with big numbers of visitors, while the implementation of regulations and conditions related to it have also been eased,” he said.
