A Leica Quad Camera Setup and a powerful battery, what else lies under the Huawei P30 Pro’s stunning body?

There is no doubt that the camera has become one of the most integral parts of the modern smartphone. While the lens by itself is a defining part of a phone’s photography capabilities, we also require a well powered chipset to process the image and a battery strong enough to keep the phone running. Now, if all of these can be achieved, we might have to compromise on design.

This is where Huawei decided to break the mold and came up with a powerful and highest rated camera setups on their latest smartphone behemoth. Dubbed the Supercamera phone for a reason, the HUAWEI P30 Pro brings together powerful hardware and software, all packed into what may be one of the most stunning smartphone designs ever.

Awarded the Best Photo Smartphone by TIPA for 2019, the HUAWEI P30 Pro was also recognized as one of the Best Products of 2019. Its innovations and dedication towards research and design also resulted in the camera setup receiving a DxOMark score of 112, one of the highest DxOMark scores to date from the leading image quality and lens rating website.

The World’s first Leica Quad Camera setup

The HUAWEI P30 Pro packs a powerful Leica Quad Camera setup, which delivers some of the most stunning results seen in smartphone photography. Consisting of a 40MP main lens with HUAWEI’s new SuperSpectrum sensor, a 20MP Ultra-Wide angle lens, an 8MP telephoto lens with SuperZoom, HUAWEI’s Time of Flight (ToF) camera and an AI powered 32MP front camera, the HUAWEI P30 Pro’s camera setup is not to be taken lightly.

One of the main features of this new camera setup is the new SuperSpectrum sensor, which is built into the 40MP main camera. A brand new sensor from Huawei, the SuperSpectrum sensor supports one of the highest ISO ratings seen on smartphones at 409,600, paving the way for beautiful shots, no matter what the conditions. Paired with the phone’s f/1.6 aperture, photos taken are sharp and crisp, even when there is no light. Huawei also uses a large 1/1.7-inch RYYB CFA on the main camera, which adopts Red, Yellow and Blue pixels allowing both red light and green light to reach the sensor, resulting in up to 40 percent more light entering the sensor, yielding higher photosensitivity.

Another key innovation is the SuperZoom lens, which is fitted into the slim body of the HUAWEI P30 Pro thanks to a state-of-the-art periscope design that allows for extreme zooming. Fitted along with the telephoto lens, this unique design uses a prism element that bends light at a 90-degree angle, allowing support for 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and never seen before 50x digital zoom. Additionally, the SuperZoom lens is also supported by Huawei’s OIS support, minimizing camera shakes at high zooms. This makes it easy to take some amazing pictures, be it of your favorite artist performing, a sports match or even a close up shot of the moon.

Twice the video, twice the fun

Exclusively on the HUAWEI P30 and HUAWEI P30 Pro, the new Dual-View Video1 feature is a refreshing way to shoot and record videos. By using multiple cameras simultaneously during video capture, users can film a close up and a wide angle view at the same time, creating a unique video viewing experience. When using this mode the display will split in two screens, also allowing users to adjust the magnification on each screen. This feature can be used for shooting some creative videos, or even the best solution to capturing large-scale events such as sporting matches and concerts.

Powerful hardware and optimized software

The secret behind a great photo is more than just the hardware, as a powerful cognitive power is also required. This is provided by the Kirin 980, Huawei’s most powerful chipset yet. Featuring a Dual-NPU and Huawei’s fourth generation ISP, the Kirin 980 packs 6.9 billion transistors, cutting edge process technology and a revolutionary architecture, all which work together to deliver more powerful yet efficient performance.

This processor not only supports the phone with superior and efficient performance, but also plays a key role in creating a great shot by handling complex processes such as smart scene detection facial detection and tracking, image stabilization, depth perception, RAW image noise reduction and RGB color production, all of which contribute to a stunning final photo.

The Kirin 980 is also the first commercial chipset to have ARM Cortex-A76 based cores with the Kirin Subsystem to maximize performance and efficiency. It is the first chipset to use Mali-G76 as its GPU, which can be further boosted with GPU Turbo 3.0.

In terms of software, the HUAWEI P30 Pro comes with EMUI 9.1, a smartphone operating system that provides users with an efficient, balanced and user-friendly experience. Users can enjoy a new design language inspired by timeless aesthetics and a minimalistic concept. Additional features include Huawei’s Extendable Read-Only File System (EROFS) which improves operating smoothness and efficiency as well as Huawei’s new In-Display Fingerprint sensor. The new sensor uses the ultra-wide 3p lens and a large aperture that enhances the Microlens by working with the pixel photosensitivity. It is further complemented by auto ring-tuning focus, which improves autofocus accuracy by 35 percent. The In-Screen Fingerprint sensor also includes a fluid unlock animation and hover sensing to further enhance user experience.

The powerful battery with SuperCharge features

With such powerful features, an equally powerful battery is required. The HUAWEI P30 Pro comes with a massive 4,200 mAh battery that can give the user up to an entire day of intensive use. Users don’t need to worry about running out of charge as well, as the HUAWEI P30 Pro features HUAWEI SuperCharge, which supports 40W charging, enough to charge the device by 70 percent in 30 minutes.

Additionally, the HUAWEI P30 Pro also supports 15W HUAWEI Wireless Quick Charge. The HUAWEI P30 Pro also come with the new Wireless Reverse Charging Technology, which allows users to use their phone as a wireless power bank to charge other wireless charge enabled devices such as wearables and earphones or even other phones, provided they support Qi Wireless Charging standard.

No compromise on design

The HUAWEI P30 Pro is designed to speak to the soul. Even with all the complex and latest innovations from Huawei, the P30 Pro does not compromise on design and in fact takes premium design one step further. The unibody design of the HUAWEI P30 Pro is complemented by two panes of double curved glass and a 6.47 inch end to end display. The FullView display supports a resolution of 2340x1080 and uses an OLED panel with a small dewdrop notch. The HUAWEI P30 Pro uses the HUAWEI Acoustic Display Technology that takes away the need for a telephone receiver on the screen, allowing users to enjoy even slimmer bezels creating a stunning viewing experience.

Additionally, the body of the phone is also secured against dust and water, proudly boasting its IP68 rating.

However, while the phone still manages to stay thin with all these high powered hardware, the highlight is the back of the device which features beautiful gradient designs such as Amber Sunrise, Breathing Crystal, Black and Aurora.
