Abu Dhabi Classic FM launches diverse selection of new programmes

Abu Dhabi Classic FM, one of Abu Dhabi Media’s leading radio stations, has launched a range of new specialist and weekend shows.

The classical radio station has refreshed its line-up with programmes for fans of particular music genres, from opera to movie soundtracks, and has also launched a new live show, Friday Brunch with Gina Peach, from 10am to 1pm, in which Gina will start the weekend with a selection of the world’s finest classical music, as well as news and stories from the UAE.

Abdulrahman Awadh Al Harthi, Executive Director of Radio at Abu Dhabi Media, said: “The Abu Dhabi radio network perpetually seeks to meet its followers’ desires by providing sophisticated and varied radio content. The launch of a range of new programs on Abu Dhabi Classic FM demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the public’s interaction with our station, and renews our various offerings that appeal to the interests of different aspects of society.”

Marwa Moaz’s show Arabesque, at 5pm on Fridays, is tailored for listeners inspired by the music of the UAE and the Middle East, featuring traditional instruments from the Oud to the Qanun, while Weekend Jazz will complement Suraniah Mahmoud’s much-loved Dinner Jazz plays the greatest hits from famous artists such as Ellington, Dizzy and Herbie at 7pm on Fridays. Damian Watson’s Crossover Classics bridges the gap between genres with orchestral and solo arrangements of pop and rock classics from music legends such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Queen at 8am and 8pm on Saturdays.

Movie enthusiasts get the best seats in the house for Classic FM At The Movies, when Andrew Hosie features a selection of iconic film soundtracks at 3pm on Fridays, while opera buffs will delight in Gina Peach’s Classic FM At The Opera, at 9pm on the same day, with outstanding operatic selections from Italian Baroque through to German opera classics composed by the likes of Wagner and Weber. Rounding off the stations new programmes, Showtime! is hosted by Rory Higgins, who guides listeners through soundtrack hits from legendary Broadway and West End shows in an earlier slot at 1pm on Fridays.

All of the programmes are repeated at different times during the weekend and from 10pm on weeknights, giving listeners plenty of opportunities to hear their favorite music. (See the Abu Dhabi Classic FM Facebook page for listings.)

Abu Dhabi Classic FM is one of Abu Dhabi Media’s most innovative and diverse radio stations. It was launched in 2010 as the first Western classical music radio station in the UAE. Abu Dhabi Classic FM offers a wide variety of interactive programmes from modern hits to vintage classics across a range of musical genres.
