This November The Galleria on Al Maryah Island launches an exclusive exhibition by Architectural Digest Middle East, and the famed photographer Mark Luscombe-Whyte. The exhibition will be displayed from November 29th until December 6th, where visitors will be welcomed to admire the award-winning photography, taking them on a journey through the capital and a brief history of the Arab world.
The Galleria partnered with Architectural Digest Middle East to present the work of leading British award-winning photographer Mark Luscombe-Whyte. In his 25 years behind the camera, Mark Luscombe-Whyte has travelled the world, photographing exotic palaces, majestic mosques and striking portraits of desert nomads. His work is featured in leading architecture and travel titles, coffee table books and in London’s National Portrait Gallery.
Made possible by The Galleria, the 38 images selected for this exhibition will be on display through The Great Room and outside Almaz by Momos restaurant on level 1. The displayed pieces were carefully curated to emphasize the unique beauty of the Arab world, its architecture and its people, revealing unique stories through striking images.
Mark’s collaboration with Architectural Digest Middle East began with the magazine’s launch issue, with a sumptuous shoot of the home of a Saudi prince. Since then, other outstanding photographic features followed, such as a cover story featuring Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the stunning architecture of The Galleria, and unique homes in Dubai, Beirut and Kuwait.
A true connoisseur of the region, with endless hours on the road, Mark Luscombe-Whyte is the ultimate specialist in Arab architecture, having perfectly captured the obvious beauty of Abu Dhabi’s most photographed landmark Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
Commenting on the photography exhibition, Charles Martinez, General Manager of The Galleria, said: “The Galleria is committed to bringing an eclectic mix of the world’s finest artists and cultural exhibitors to the UAE and are delighted to welcome such a prestigious publication as Architectural Digest, and world renowned photographer Mark Luscombe-Whyte. We expect this exhibition to provide the community and its visitors with a cultural journey through an unforgettable visual experience.”
Unlike other photographers in the industry, Mark travels only with his camera - shunning the need for any extravagant devices - discretely photographing and producing stunning images that also highlight his talent and unique vision.
