Adel Al-Jubeir wins International Moderation Prize

Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Member of the Cabinet Adel Al-Jubeir has won the International Prize for Moderation for the year 2020. This was announced by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Al-Jubeir has been picked for the prize in recognition of his distinguished efforts for moderation while representing the Kingdom in international forums, based on the principle of Saudi moderation in foreign policy in light of the directives of the wise leadership.

“Through this moderation, he was instrumental in strengthening a positive image of the Kingdom, its leadership and people. The essence of this image was tolerance and moderate intellectual and political discourse in all international forums and platforms,” he said.

Prince Khaled highlighted Al-Jubeir’s efforts and contributions toward one of the most important objectives of the award, which is to highlight the true image and the civilized face of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in international forums.

He thanked and appreciated the wise leadership for all the interest and appreciation the country and its people enjoy in the fields of thought and culture.

Prince Khaled made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Institute for Moderation under King Abdulaziz University (KAU) at his office in Jeddah on Monday.

More than 141 entities and personalities were nominated for the award in the fields of people and society, politics and diplomacy, thought and knowledge, science and technology.

The meeting reviewed the institute’s activities last year. Briefing on major activities, Dr. Al-Manakhrah highlighted the institute’s participation in holding a virtual international conference on the theme of “The role of universities in serving society and establishing values” in cooperation with the League of Islamic Universities and the Muslim World League.
