Al Salem Johnson Controls Discusses Cooling Technology at the 2nd Annual District Cooling Arabia

Al Salem Johnson Controls, a pioneer provider of integrated HVAC solutions and equipment, recently participated at the 2nd Annual District Cooling Arabia held in Riyadh. The company’s special expertise and knowledge in district cooling service was shared with the audience presenting a state of the art technology that would help in reducing the standard levels of energy consumption.

This annual event gathers top notch players in the field of district cooling in the GCC. Al Salem Johnson Controls seized the opportunity to showcase benefits of applying Variable Speed Drive to district cooling plants in reducing electricity load compared to the average air conditioner at homes. According to the Saudi Energy Efficiency Council’s findings, Air Conditioning systems consume more than 72% of the energy used in the residential sectors.

Emphasizing on the company’s presence as industry leaders in the event, Dr. Mohanad Alshaikh, CEO of Al Salem Johnson Controls said: “We are proud to be pioneers and experts in district cooling. Developers are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits and reliability of district cooling technology. Our strategy focuses on ensuring that our wide range of units and smart solutions can contribute to better results. Therefore, it is imperative that we make it our responsibility to be active players working towards sustainable development.”

Dr. Anwar Hassan, VP of Field Sales and Operations at Al Salem Johnson Controls was at the panel discussion for his leadership and expertise in the District Cooling field and shed light on the benefits of district cooling as he stated: “District Cooling can positively impact projects and consumers considering that one of its most profound aspects is the fact that it can provide up to 50% energy savings. The Council of Ministries issued a Royal Decree that District Cooling System should be a mandatory application in governmental and private projects to ensure a better outcome in energy efficiency.”

He then added: “The introduction and development of District Cooling in Saudi Arabia is supported by the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) and H.H. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman, and it goes hand in hand with the Kingdom’s vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.”

Al Salem Johnson Controls takes the harshest weather conditions into account when designing its chillers, to ensure high efficiency when operating in high temperatures, as well as offering Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) on the chillers for potential energy saving up to 30%.

Worth noting that some of company’s most prominent projects for District Cooling Plants include the Holy Grand Mosque in Makkah and Load Center-3 King Abdul Aziz Airport, as both locations exemplify energy savings technologies under global standards.
