This year’s event is taking place on the fairgrounds of South Obhur, starting on December 15 and continuing until December 25.
The Jeddah International Book Fair was launched in 2015 to spread awareness on the importance of reading as a means of acquiring different kinds of knowledge. It also serves to inform visitors of some of the most important books released by Saudi, Arab and international publishers and writers.
This year’s event is welcoming 450 Saudi, Arab and international publishing houses, as well as 221 male and female authors who will be available on site to sign their latest books, ranging from novels and literary criticism to scientific works. Also, for the first time, the Book Fair will play host to the new ALBAIK portable branch that will serve visitors and exhibitors ALBAIK’s signature meals.
Engineer Rami Abu Ghazaleh, CEO of ALBAIK Food Systems Co. Ltd., has spoken of his great pride in being able to support the Jeddah International Book Fair as it serves to promote the importance of reading to all Saudis. Reading, he said, continues to play a fundamental role in sharpening our intellectual abilities and enhancing the culture of our communities, as well as promoting their prosperity.
“Despite the wave of new technology that is sweeping the world, books have not lost their relevance to human society. Book fairs, such as this annual event in Jeddah are extremely important not only to the book industry, from authors to publishers to distributors, but to intellectuals, knowledge-seekers and book lovers of all types. We, at ALBAIK, are dedicated to supporting cultural initiatives and related events in Saudi Arabia as such initiatives serve to enlighten our society and educate them about important ideas, topics and other cultures,” Eng. Abu Ghazaleh said.
Present at the Book Fair will be a special team from ALBAIK, who will work to maintain the cleanliness of the fairgrounds, as a part of ALBAIK’s commitment to communities and keeping the Book Fair free from litter.
Over the past 42 years, ALBAIK has become synonymous with quality meals and distinctive service. It is also one of the most active companies in the support of national initiatives for development as well as being active in multiple educational, social and recreational programs geared toward developing the minds and creativity of Saudi youth.
