Blockbusters are back at VOX Cinemas as it reveals impressive slate of upcoming must-see movies

VOX Cinemas, the dedicated cinema arm of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia is excited to reveal its impressive slate of upcoming movies which are sure to captivate audiences and reignite the cinema industry following months of government-mandated closures and the absence of new content.

After much speculation and disruption in release dates, I’m excited to announce that blockbusters are back at VOX Cinemas and that guests can look forward to an impressive line-up of must-see movies suitable for all the family. Now more than ever, film lovers are keen to enjoy the collective and exhilarating experience of watching a movie on the big screen and we are confident that major tentpoles such as Tenet, Mulan and Wonder Woman 1984 will reignite the regional box office.”

Since reopening, we have celebrated surpassing 100 screens with the opening in Sahara Mall, launched the first ever cinema in Tabuk and we are the only cinema in Saudi Arabia operating for 24 hours across four multiplexes in Riyadh and Jeddah. As a result of our agility, diligence and commitment towards realising the goals of Vision 2030, we have more than doubled our screen count in less than a year and we look forward to creating more great moments every day for audiences across the Kingdom with back to back blockbusters in the coming months.”

Following the recent premiere of Scoob! (currently showing), a computer animated reboot of the beloved Scooby-Do franchise, VOX Cinemas released Peninsula (currently showing), the eagerly awaited sequel to the hit Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan, which will be screened in the IMAX theatre.

On Thursday, one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet (27 August) was released. In a break from tradition, the espionage thriller will launch in overseas territories, including the Middle East, ahead of the US allowing UAE audiences to be amongst the first to see the movie. Nolan wrote and directed the film utilizing a mixture of IMAX and 70mm film to bring the story to the big screen and cinemagoers can look forward to watching it in IMAX format at VOX Cinemas for maximum impact.

The September slate features the long-awaited Mulan (September 4), a live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated film of the same name and The King’s Man (September 17), the third installment in Matthew Vaughan’s popular period spy franchise.

Wonder Woman 1984 (October 1), a sequel which continues the story its eponymous heroine, is sure to satiate fans of superhero movies while those who appreciate murder mysteries can look forward to Death on the Nile (October 22) in which Kenneth Branagh reprises both his directorial role and that of the iconic detective Poirot in the film adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel.

To ensure that cinemagoers have safe and comfortable experiences, VOX Cinemas has introduced extensive precautionary measures including disinfecting auditoriums using fogging machines and sanitizing surfaces after every guest interaction. The capacity in auditoriums has also been reduced and seats next to a guest’s selection will be left vacant to allow for physical distancing.
