Adel Al-Toraifi, minister of culture and information, said the Cabinet meeting on Monday discussed several draft agreements signed with South Korea on nuclear energy. The two sides agreed last week to conduct a feasibility study on building nuclear reactors worth SR7.5 billion across the country.
Under the provisions of the signed memorandum of understanding, the two nations are set to conduct a three-year preliminary study, to be completed in 2018, on the feasibility of constructing the nuclear reactors.

The Cabinet also expressed its satisfaction over the safe return of the Saudi consul in Aden, Abdullah Al-Khaledi, who was held captive by Al-Qaeda in Yemen for three years. Al-Khaledi was kidnapped on March 28, 2012, in front of his house in Sanaa.
The Cabinet praised the country’s security agencies under the Ministry of Interior for thwarting several attempts by criminals to smuggle drugs into the country over the first four months of the year, including the arrest of several perpetrators.

Al-Toraifi added that the meeting approved resolutions submitted by the Shoura Council, including authorizing Darat King Abdulaziz, to sign a draft memorandum of cooperation with the Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

The Cabinet also ratified the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Hungary on the avoidance of double taxation and tax evasion, with respect to income and capital.
The Cabinet authorized King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy to discuss a draft agreement with Kazakhstan on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
