The government has for the first time instituted .Gov awards in the Kingdom, which will be presented at a grand ceremony in Riyadh on Sept. 14, and nominations for which are now open.
The move is to recognize best practices in the government’s management with the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) assets and the application of technology to support government’s mission while serving citizens.
Nominations can be made via the awards website http://www.itp.net/dotgov-ksa-awards.
According to the organizers, the awards will be in 15 categories for new online services, successful works carried out by government departments, new initiatives in government services and outstanding leaders and individuals.
The categories include — Government mobile app of the year, G2G service of the year, Customer service initiative of the year, Government green IT initiative of the year, Smart city initiative of the year, Government IT application project of the year, Government IT infrastructure project of the year, Government IT department of the year, Young Government IT professional of the year and Government IT leader of the year.
The awards, which are open only for government entities in the Kingdom, will recognize the outstanding work by the government sector in the Kingdom during the past 12 months.
The .Gov initiative has been taken in view of its success in the UAE earlier this year.
The government departments and partners can apply for nominations by filling an online form and submitting it with the appropriate required documents.
