To spread awareness about climate change, City Mall; the city’s favourite, joined the world in celebrating the global initiative “Earth Hour”, by switching off the two side signs of its exterior façade for one hour.
This initiative is a global event to preserve energy and spread awareness about climate change. Earth Hour is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, to encourage individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to planet earth.
With that in mind, City Mall activated a range of energy-saving measures during Earth Hour. The City’s favorite, switched off the two side signs of its exterior facade; dimmed all its interior lighting for an entire hour starting at 8:30 pm on Saturday the 19th of March. Additionally, most of the mall’s tenants joined in the initiative and dimmed their in-store lighting during the same period.
“It’s a privilege for us at City Mall, the city’s favourite, to support such a powerful movement with such a simple gesture,” said Mrs. Maram Enaya, the Commercial Manager at City Mall. “Earth Hour is a global philosophy we all need to adopt; as the small steps each one of us takes, can collectively make a difference. It’s a symbolic and spectacular lights out display with a big message – we want to protect the future of our planet!”
