Community involved in improving education

Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhil launched a platform on Thursday to foster development initiatives with the participation of both the MoE and the community.

“The move aims to achieve further growth and development of education through the reception of ideas in everything related to the services or products of the ministry,” he said.
He said the platform allows the public to comment and vote on the ideas presented through an electronic mechanism set up under Yousef Al-Ohali, superintendent of the General Department of Information Technology.
Al-Dakhil added that these ideas would be considered for the development of services, products and procedures by the ministry. “The new platform involves both the Education Ministry and the community in decision making and therefore, in the process, we build a knowledge-based society,” Al-Dakhil said.
He said that one of the most notable ideas from the community and which he has seen in a website include early retirement after 15 years instead of 20 years of service.
Other ideas include medical and housing allowances for teachers, canceling the morning queue, reduction in the number of students to 15 and teacher incentive grants.
Al-Dakhil said that other ideas include “first-aid approach to examination of the nurse from the Ministry of Health (MoH) as well as invitation of private and business establishment of nursery for children under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education.”
The community also suggested the monitoring of the annual award for the best teacher, manager and director of each school, awarding the degree or amount of money or a certificate signed by the minister of education and update the curricula according to the requirements of the labor market with the participation of the private sector.
