Day one of AIM Startup 2017 showcases innovative big and small projects

The inaugural edition of AIM Startup, organised in conjunction with AIM 2017, commenced today on Sunday, April 2nd in Dubai World Trade Centre. The new initiative witnessed a prolific gathering of visitors, investors and officials.

AIM Startup 2017 aims to extend support to the small projects, which in turn can be the core for larger projects in the future, representing a significant part of the investment sector. Aimed at providing the young generation an opportunity to showcase their innovative offerings, in a unique investment environment, AIM Startup 2017 is an initiative of the Ministry of Economy in the UAE.

Around 100 exhibitors, among the young investors, have been chosen to showcase their ideas and projects at AIM Startup 2017. The participants are having an opportunity to not only discuss and present their pitches to the interested investors and visitors, but also have access to some of the world’s best-practices. Participants at AIM Startup 2017 comprise of varied sectors including tech, education, commercial and cosmetics among many others. The small and medium scale projects are the most anticipated pitches at AIM Startup entities because of its ability to create jobs and improve the economy.

The first day of AIM Startup 2017 witnessed outstanding support from the investors and government entities. To add fervour to the event, the Startup section was decorated in green to show support for green economy. In addition, there were several workshops that took place at the international event including "Risk Mitigation", which was managed by Paulo Andrez from Portugal and  “Pitch Perfect” managed by Tareq Ghobar, Startup Service Manager. During the workshops, the attendees discussed the projects of the future and outlined the strategies to support them. The forum witnessed high turn-out from visitors and potential investors, and the discussion was interactive between all the parties involved at the event.

“We are very happy to have the chance to showcase the technical project at AIM Startup. We are optimistic that our participation at AIM Startup will boost the developments of our project further,” said Obai Al Hindi, the owner of a project called “TwingBig” who is participating at AIM Startup 2017. TwingBig is an interactive community via mobile app dedicated to search for the best goods and services.

AIM Startup is supported by five major partners including Dubai SME, TURN8, WOMENA, Entrepreneur Middle East and The Cribb.

Among the 100 new projects on display at the AIM Startup, 25 best projects will be chosen an awarded a prize money of USD 30000, while supporting organisations, managed by Venture Capital, will reward the best new project with USD 500000.
