The details of the 36th edition of Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2017) will be unveiled tomorrow (Wednesday, October 4) during a press conference at Sharjah Public Library. The programme for the forthcoming edition of the world’s third largest book fair, which runs from November 1-11 at Expo Centre Sharjah, will be revealed by the Sharjah Book Authority.
Taking place at 10:30 am, the conference will feature HE Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of SBA; HE Abdul Aziz Taryam, CEO Advisor and General Manager of Etisalat – Northern Emirates, HE Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) and Hannah Henderson, Head of UK/UAE 2017 Year of Creative Collaboration, British Council. The participants will be outlining the SIBF 2017 programnme in the presence of a host of representatives of institutions and entities that organise and sponsor the annual book fair.
The conference will unveil key activities and events, including its Cultural Programme’s seminars, Children Programme’s shows, Cultural Café’s sessions and Cookery Corner Programme’s activities. The speakers will also announce the cultural, intellectual and media personalities from around the world who will be participating in the fair.
The speakers will also unveil the details of the Professional Programme, which takes place each year before SIBF and which brings together international publishing rights professionals to be updated on the latest developments relating to the buying and selling of rights, to network, and to conduct translation rights deals. The event will also see the speakers announce the details of the SIBF/ALA (American Library Association) Conference, which will address a number of important topics for librarians from public, private, university and school libraries.
