DEWA’s R&D Centre launches its 4th Transactions Report

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) 's Research and Development (R&D) Centre has published its fourth Transactions Report, highlighting the Scopus Indexed scientific and research papers presented at international conferences and journals in 2023.

 

The report includes 71 research papers, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the previous year. The articles cover solar energy, water, energy efficiency, smart grid integration, Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, space technologies, and energy systems analysis.

 

DEWA has received many awards for the R&D centre's scientific contributions. Most notably, the centre received the Best Paper Award 2023 from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for six papers presented at the first MENA Solar Conference, organised by DEWA, in November 2023.

 

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said, "The R&D Centre supports DEWA's efforts to anticipate and shape a sustainable future, develop long-term proactive plans to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and innovate disruptive technologies."

 

He added that the centre's innovative applied research plays a crucial role in maintaining DEWA's position as a global leader among utilities and providing added value to services, meeting the highest availability, sustainability, quality, and reliability standards.

 

Among the prominent topics covered in the centre's 2023 papers are: 'Mission Profile Concept for PV Modules: Use Case - Middle East Deserts vs. Temperate European Climate'; 'Data-Driven Key Performance Indicators and Datasets for Building Energy Flexibility'; 'Development of Flow Batteries Focusing on Flow Field Optimisation and Novel Methods for Estimating the Battery's Electrochemical Impedance'; and 'A Comprehensive Lifecycle Assessment of the PV Reverse Osmosis Facility', among others.
