Dubai Courts’ Amicable Dispute Resolution Centre settles 80% of disputes amicably

The Dubai Courts’ Amicable Dispute Resolution Centre announced outstanding achievements during the first half of the year 2024, as the amicable settlement rate for disputes reached 80%, and 1239 disputes were resolved by agreement and reconciliation, reflecting the efforts made to provide effective and rapid solutions to disputes. These achievements come within the framework of the vision of Dubai Courts and its strategy aimed at promoting justice and societal stability, and providing innovative judicial services that keep pace with the aspirations of clients and contribute to achieving sustainable development. These results confirm the centre’s commitment to achieving the strategic objectives of Dubai Courts in providing high-quality services, and facilitating judicial procedures in line with Dubai’s 2024vision to build a safe society and a fair judiciary.

 

In this regard, His Excellency Judge Khalid Al Hosani, Head of the Courts of First Instance in Dubai Courts, explained that the Amicable Dispute Resolution Centre in the Emirate of Dubai has achieved a new accomplishment, as it succeeded in resolving disputes through reconciliation with a total value of 20 billion 245 million 417 thousand 365 dirhams. This accomplishment demonstrates the emirate’s remarkable progress in adopting alternative litigation methods as an effective means of resolving commercial disputes, which contributes to enhancing the business environment in Dubai and is an important step towards attracting more investments and major projects.

 

Moving towards alternative settlement and litigation solutions is essential for building trust among disputing parties, enhancing economic stability and supporting an ideal business environment for growth and prosperity. This progress reflects Dubai’s ambitious vision to be among the best cities in the world in resolving commercial disputes, in line with the emirate’s economic growth strategy, which focuses on attracting and sustaining foreign investment.

 

His Excellency the Judge stressed that this success reinforces Dubai’s commitment to provide high-level legal services that meet the needs of the business community and contributes to creating an attractive and competitive investment climate on a global level. He added that enhancing the use of alternative litigation methods comes within a broader vision to develop the legal infrastructure in Dubai, ensuring greater efficiency and transparency in legal procedures, and supporting the achievement of sustainable development and integrated economic growth in the emirate.

 

For his part, His Excellency Ibrahim Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Notary Public, Settlement, and Execution Sector, stressed that the achievement made by the Amicable Dispute Resolution Centre is the result of the continuous efforts made by Dubai to enhance a legal environment that keeps pace with global aspirations. He pointed out that the Center always seeks to improve its mechanisms and adopt the best international practices to ensure quick and effective solutions to disputes. We work hard to ensure that Dubai Courts are a role model in the field of amicable settlement, as we seek to provide a flexible and effective legal environment that contributes to attracting investments and providing the necessary stability for business growth. Mr. Issa bin Tamim, Director of the Amicable Dispute Resolution Centre, addressed a number of results, including the disputes settled in the expertise, which amounted to 380 disputes, and reports were submitted regarding them. The center achieved an average settlement period of only 13 days, while the average period for completing electronic requests was two hours, which indicates the high efficiency in processing requests, reflecting the center’s vital role in resolving disputes in a way that enhances the financial and economic stability.
