Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has concluded its ‘Summer of Heritage’ event on a bright note with a closing ceremony that was attended by His Excellency Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General of Dubai Culture, and Mrs. Ghaya Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of Dubai Education Zone. The event was attended by 60 children who learnt about the myriad facets of UAE heritage at 15 enjoyable and educational workshops.
Fatima Lootah, Director of Cultural and Heritage Programmes at Dubai Culture, commented: “We are delighted that our ‘Summer of Heritage’ event was attended by so many children, as it gave us an excellent opportunity to reach out to the younger generation and instil them with a true appreciation for UAE culture and heritage. It also gave children the chance to make the most of their free time during the summer break by participating in enriching workshops that reflected our mandate to promote cultural exchange and support the Emirate’s vibrant culture, arts and heritage sectors.”
The event took place at Al Rashidiya branch of the Dubai Public Library and ran from 6th to 17th August, featuring 15 workshops that educated all segments of the community about the UAE’s heritage, values and traditions, and promoted the patriotism, hospitality, good manners and respectful behavior that the nation is renowned for. The event is part of Dubai Culture’s ongoing efforts to preserve Emirati heritage and ensure that it is passed down to the next generation.
Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors
