As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Dubai Customs organized a video gathering for the employees of the Government Department with a number of elderly people in cooperation with the Community Development Authority.
The meeting was to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, which is marked annually on 1 October, to exchange friendly talks with the older persons and to listen to their stories and experiences.
It is an opportunity to celebrate the older persons in the society and to ensure their active involvement to achieve social solidarity. A number of Dubai Customs’ employees talked with the older persons about different topics and discussed together life in the past and present, and entertained them with puzzles and jokes.
Dubai Customs has launched a number of initiatives that targeted older persons, and these included celebrating together Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.
“Social responsibility is at the core of our business. It’s a commitment from our side towards our local community,” said Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department. “We stood out in this side and have launched a number of health, social and environmental initiatives that reflect the genuineness of the Emirati people. This also fulfils our strategic vision at Dubai Customs following the wise vision of our leadership which highly values the older persons in recognition of their contributions to our society.”
