Director of Dubai Customs Ahmed Mahboob Musabih confirmed that Emirati women have played a great role in the development of the UAE.
In an event organized by Women’s Committee at Dubai Customs Musabih said that Emirati women are an example to follow locally, regionally and internationally.
“They are an integral part of our country’s success and a real partner in development and progress” he confirmed.
The event was attended by a number of directors and managers. 44 female employees who had 20 years of service in the department were honoured in the event in appreciation to their noticeable achievement and devout service.
The vision of UAE’s leaders enabled women to take greater strides and the past years have seen a series of milestones being reached in the field of women’s empowerment, Musabih said.
“While it is important to recognize the women at the top, it is equally important to think of all the many others who work, day in and day out, to make companies, institutions and homes successful. The success of the most prominent is merely the tip of the iceberg. Across the seven Emirates, Emirati women are performing to the highest standards” he confirmed.
“This is as it should be. From the very birth of the country, Sheikh Zayed put the position of women at the heart of the national project. The project of building the UAE could not have been accomplished without the women of the country. Indeed, the opportunities for education, employment and advancement that were offered have been enthusiastically taken. As far as the country has come, there is still room for more. Today’s Emirati Women’s Day is a celebration, but it is also a preparation, for many years and decades of continued involvement and leadership from the women of the UAE” he added.
On her part, Mariam Khalifa Al-Shamsi, Head of Women's Committee at Dubai Customs said: “Rewarding the ladies who worked at Dubai Customs for 20 years is the least of what we can do to thank them. We recognize their great efforts in helping make Dubai Customs a successful example to follow worldwide”.
At the end of the event Musabih thanked the female employees and toured a photo exhibition, dedicated to women’s achievements, which was set up in cooperation with National Archives.
