Dubai Customs distributes 20,000 meals during Ramadan

HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and Philip Frayne, US Consul General to Dubai joined Ghayath Volunteer team last Saturday in distributing 5,000 Iftar meals to motorists and pedestrians on Sheikh Rashid road at sunset time as part of Al Furdah Hands initiative. 

The initiative, launched by Dubai Customs 2 years ago and is active during Ramadan, targets distribution of 5,000 Iftar meals weekly. Final number targeted is 20,000 Iftar meals. Around 200 volunteers of Ghayath Volunteer Team took part in the initiative along with their children and members of the port Police Station. 

Director General of Dubai Customs commented: 

“We are celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadan by giving to others. These inherent values of giving and selflessness have been consolidated by the Founder of this nation, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May God Bless His Soul. Charity initiatives aim at strengthening ties between community members and spreading a culture of giving and benevolence.”

Dubai Customs launched 7 charity initiatives during Ramadan through which basic foodstuff items will be distributed to 2,000 families in need, in cooperation with authorized charities in the country. 

On his part, the US Consul General highly appraised Ghayath Volunteer Team’s initiative and said the UAE is always home for charity, solidarity and social cohesion. Mr Frayneexpressed his happiness for taking part in this charity initiative and said the initiative targets all segments of society of all nationalities and intends to make their day. He reaffirmed the strong and coherent relationship with Dubai Customs and its role in supporting sustainable development in the UAE.
