Dubai Customs receives delegation from Qatari General Authority of Customs

Dubai Customs received a delegation from the Qatari General Authority of Customs. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs met with his Qatari counterpart Ahmed Abdullah Al-Jamal, Chairman of Qatar Customs Authority who was accompanied by a number of senior customs officials.

 

The meeting was attended by Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, Executive Director of Clients Management Division, Faisal Eissa Lutfi, CEO of DC World, Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department, Shuaib Al Suwaidi, Intelligence Department Director, Edris Behzad, Client Management Director, and Dr. Shaikha Al Ghafri, Acting Director of the Training Centre.

 

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih reaffirmed the importance of the brotherly relations between Dubai Customs and the Qatari General Authority of Customs, and efforts of the two parties to enhance cooperation between the GCC customs authorities.

 

Musabih said: “Cooperation between the GCC authorities is gaining more importance with the advent of great events in the region like the hosting of Dubai Expo 2020 and the World Cup 2022. This is a good opportunity for us all to enhance our mutual efforts and exchange knowledge and expertise in customs service delivery, especially with the increase of Dubai external trade with Qatar which reached AED 15 billion in 2016”.

 

Musabih added: “We are happy to share our experience in customs with our brothers in the gulf, and to learn from their experience as well through the exchange of visits. Dubai Customs moved up to the third place on the Global Competitiveness Report’s in efficiency of customs procedures. Dubai Customs boasts a number of distinctive innovative systems that others are willing to learn about. These include Mirsal2, the Risk Engine, the Virtual Corridor, the Smart Workspace, the Smart Inspection Glasses, to name a few”.

 

On his part, Ahmed Abdullah Al-Jamal, Chairman of Qatar Customs Authority applauded Dubai Customs’ amazing experience in developing customs work worldwide.

 

He added: “It’s very important for us to enhance cooperation with Dubai Customs. We came here today to learn more about Dubai Customs’ experience and the latest practices in the field. We are sure we will benefit a lot from Dubai Customs and will exchange expertise especially in what is related to Dubai Customs’ Mirsal2 and ‘Nadeeb’ system which we apply in Qatar”.

 

Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, Executive Director of Clients Management Division said that working together with the Qatari Customs Authority will help in the exchange of best practices in delivery of services to clients.

 

Faisal Eissa Lutfi, CEO of DC World said:” We at Dubai Customs World support customs business worldwide by sharing Dubai Customs innovative experience with other customs administrations worldwide.
