Dubai Otology 2015 Starts Tomorrow

Under the patronage of H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health in the UAE, Dubai Otology 2015 kicks off its 3rd edition tomorrow 21st of October at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center in Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai – United Arab Emirates. 

This year, Dubai Otology attracts over 50 prominent speakers, ENT specialists, surgeons, otolaryngologists, otologists, neurologists, audiologists, trainees, nurses and students from 33 countries. The event features a three-day conference addressing the major issues in otology, neurotology & skull base surgery such as auditory brainstem implant, cochlear implant, implantable hearing aids, cholesteatoma, mastoidectomy, ossiculoplasty, and stapes surgery. 

About the third edition of Dubai Otology Conference & Exhibition, Dr. Ahmed Alamadi, Consultant Otologist & Neurotologist and Medical Director at Al Baraha Hospital, and the Dubai Otology Conference Chairman said: “This year, we have surgical video sessions by experts giving tips and tricks on otological surgeries. We have also added a full session on imaging where radiologist specializing in imaging of the ear and skull base give valuable tips in the recent advances in the field of radiology. Another addition to the conference is a full three days of parallel advance vestibular workshop with hands on training.”

From his side, Dr. Tristram Lesser, Consultant ENT and Skull Base Surgeon at Aintree University Hospital, and a speaker at the conference said: “This conference synthesises the knowledge base and practice of advanced otology and how best to benefit patients with hearing loss, dizziness and diseases of the ear and facial nerve. The sessions from Liverpool UK will help in the decisions about who will benefit from repair of retraction pockets of the ear drum and which patients can be safely monitored; how to analyse the CT scans of the ear so no diseases are missed and surgery can be planned safely; how to repair hearing in diseased ears; but most importantly how to diagnose and treat the difficult problem of vertigo and dizziness.”

Dr. Lesser added: “We will also train local surgeons in the nuances of advanced surgery of the anterior and lateral skull base.”

The conference sessions this year will discuss the recent developments in Cholesteatoma, Mastoidectomy, Tympanoplasty, Facial Nerve, Ossiculoplasty, Stapes Surgery, Vestibular Schwannoma, Cochlear Implant, Implantable Hearing Aids, Auditory Brainstem Implant, Vertigo, Skull Base Surgery and The Future of Otology & Neurotology. The conference will also feature novel researches of ENT Doctors, practitioners, residents and students from different parts of the world through on Oral Free Paper Presentation.

It is worth mentioning that the conference offers its participants and attendees the chance to earn more than 30 CME Credit Hours, accredited by the Ministry of Health, UAE. While it helps to improve doctors’ practice and care of patients, accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) is also necessary to renew physician’s professional licenses in the UAE.
