Evolving hair colour trends.

Over 75% of women dye their hair to hide greys, change the natural colour of their hair or to just highlight the ends. Whether it’s adding a little bit of colour or an all-over change, colouring your hair makes for a great makeover or a complete catastrophe. Which begs the question, Should women dye their hair themselves at home, or let the professionals at the salon take care of it?

Masrouji has recently announced the launch of professional hair colouring products to be made available across the GCC. The range of products includes brands like Alfaparf Milano and many more. With the market’s evolving needs for more professional products, here’s a look at how retail quality hair colours, currently, cannot compare to professional products coming from the likes of Masrouji.

Most over-the-counter hair colours do not yield the expected results and the hair colour often turns out to be very different from what was promised on the box. Salon professionals not only use the best products, but they also know how to use them in the best way possible, to yield optimum results. A professional hairstylist mixes shades to give your hair depth, says Aura Friedman, who works with Lady Gaga. Everyone’s hair is different and with salon-grade professional products, the stylist has more control over what strength to use for different hair types. The average person does not know much about absorbency, density and elasticity. Professionals have gone to specialised schools and passed their exams, qualifying them to colour hair professionally. Box colour doesn’t take these factors into consideration, let alone how to test for them.

“Our audiences are getting more fashion savvy with every passing day. They want their hair colour to look like what they see on social media and on TV, without any compromise in quality”, says Mr. Francesco Arancio, International Educator of Alfaparf. “At Alfaparf, we aim to give them just that. Our products are available across leading salons through Masrouji across the GCC, and people can now access their desired hair shade easily”, he added.

The quality used by a salon is much higher than drugstore brands. An accomplished colourist should be able to achieve exactly what you want without a damaging amount of dye/bleach – something that can’t always be said for do-it-yourself versions. The average person is unaware that artificial colour does not lift artificial colour. Going from brown to blonde at home is not going to happen. Even going from blonde to dark isn’t easy. Box colour doesn’t contain “fillers” or “extra missing pigment,” things the average person doesn’t realize they need. But at professional salons, they understand your hair type and know what combination will work best to get your desired shade of hair colour.

The launch that Masrouji has presented is the Revolution temporary Hair colour range from Alfaparf Milano. The range comprises concentrated shades that deliver vibrant glistening colour while adding incredible softness and shine to your hair. Colours range from bold and bright to shimmering pastel, making sure that there’s a perfect shade for all kinds of customers. These hair colours embody everything that the consumers of today look for in professional beauty products, and the range is available at the top salons across the UAE.

Last year, UAE residents spent nine per cent more on personal care products to Dh5.3 billion and will see it jumping to by another half a billion dollar to Dh7.34bn in five years mainly on hair care, grooming products, cosmetics, etc. In five years, more than $500 million (Dh1.83bn) will be added in UAE sales, yielding around $2bn sales market by 2019, which includes hair colour care products and other personal care products.
