Inspired by the thrilling weekend of racing witnessed at the 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi welcomed four young teammates from the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) to put their own racing abilities to test.
The racing drivers were given a jubilant welcome by the entire park team, who toured them around the Ferrari-branded theme park. The four drivers put their abilities to test through Turbo Track’s precision training and performance analysis elements, followed by the final test - the ride itself, which propelled them up to the highest point on Yas Island at 64 m.
These young drivers, who are no stranger to such thrilling, high-adrenaline experiences included Charles Leclerc, a multi-champion in the GP3 series and FIA Formula 2 Championship; Giuliano Alesi, GP3 driver, son of former Formula One Ferrari driver Jean Alesi;Antonio Fuoco, F2 driver, and from Formula 3 the new recruit Callum Ilott.
“At Ferrari World Abu Dhabi we’re passionate about creating thrilling and inspiring experiences, and Turbo Track provides just that by giving our guests the chance to see the world through the eyes of a Ferrari test driver”, commented Jesse Vargas, General Manager at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
Vargas added: “Witnessing actual FDA drivers taking on this ride, as they mirrored their daily experiences sat alongside our guests, is an exceptional event and something uniquely inspiring. We were thrilled to be hosting these racers and letting them live an experience that only a great rollercoaster can offer.”
In addition to Turbo Track, the FDA drivers challenged each other at the park’s ultimate indoor racing experience, Karting Academy and ended their visit with the “must-try” world’s fastest rollercoaster, Formula Rossa which left them wide-mouthed.
