First dialysis center opens in Madinah

 After many years of waiting, more than 1,000 kidney failure patients in Madinah have realized their dream of having a dialysis center matching global standards in their city.

The dialysis center, set up through a national program that facilitates for kidney patients treatment inside the Kingdom or abroad, was inaugurated by the director general of Madinah Health Affairs recently.

Dr. Bader Al-Hameed, head of the King Abdulaziz Center for Kidney Dialysis and Surgery at King Fahd Hospital in Madinah, explained that the Director General of Health Affairs, said it was the first center in Madinah region. He said the center was equipped according to international specifications.
Al-Hameed said five other dialysis centers will be opened in the city in the next phase. He hoped that these centers would be completed by the end of 2017.

Al-Hameed said the opening of the new dialysis center in Madinah is a distinct addition to the healthcare facilities in the region.
