Cambridge English launches free course for individuals planning a career in teaching English. It is designed to give a taster of the skills and knowledge needed before setting foot in the classroom.
People planning to travel and teach English in the UAE can now enrol on a free online course to get a taster of what it is like before taking on a teaching role. Exploring the World of English Language Teaching is a six-week course that will start on 6 June. The online course has been developed by experts at Cambridge English in collaboration with FutureLearn, a social learning platform based in the UK.
The core audience is young graduates, but it is suitable for anyone with C1 level English who is interested in becoming an effective English teacher.
‘Open online courses are an amazing way to reach a massive audience. MOOCs like this are shaking up the education landscape and are a perfect fit for Cambridge English's aim of reaching dramatically more learners through digital’, explained Ramiz Haddadin, Regional Director META at Cambridge English. He said: ‘Great teachers inspire great learners, but some of the best future teachers might not realise yet that it is the career for them. We are hope to inspire that next generation of English teachers, as well as help them understand the real challenges they will face and identify the skills they will need to be effective. We have already had a large number of students signing up in the region. It is proving popular with gap year students, existing teachers and people looking for a career change’.
Exploring the World of English Language Teaching is the first in a series of courses from a new collaboration between Cambridge English and FutureLearn.
