Young film and media enthusiasts will be participating in a one-of-a-kind summer camp by FUNN, the Sharjah-based organisation dedicated to guide and equip younger generations to successfully engage in the world of film and media arts.
The eight-day FUNNtastic camp, from 6 to 14 August at the Sharjah Classic Car Museum, will see children and young adults aged 13 to 18 years engage in a series of diverse activities that will include educational and entertainment competitions, workshops on media arts as well as an edutainment trip.
Those who missed out on enrolling earlier are in luck as there are a few spots still left to fill. Those interested may call on the number 065941230, or send an email to info@funn.ae.
One of the camp’s highlights is an exciting treasure hunt, where the young treasure hunters will polish their qualities of observation, patience, and teamwork in order to succeed.
Sheikha Jawaher Bint Abdulla Al Qassimi, Director of FUNN and Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival, said: “The underlying objective of the FUNNtastic Camp is to motivate youngsters to apply the skills they pick up at the camp to various aspects of media and filmmaking, and in the process, have some fun. The treasure hunt, where these children will be looking for a key to a hidden treasure, has been designed to enhance their spirit of cohesion and teamwork.”
Sheikha Jawaher added: “The summer camp has achieved great success in past years, because it allows participants to experience many new things about filmmaking and the media arts through their engagement in a range of activities. Through such events, we aim to contribute to nurturing a generation of creative minds who will make successful careers out of film and other media.”
She highlighted how participating in the FUNNtastic summer camp will help students invest their summer holidays in a creative and educational endeavour, make new friends, and meet likeminded people with similar interests and passions.
Established by the Sharjah government to promote and support all media art for children and young adults in Sharjah and the UAE, FUNN seeks to impart knowledge and skills and bring local and international expertise in media technologies to young audiences in the country.
FUNN aims to create these opportunities in new media, digital art and film through hosting workshops, seminars, conferences and festivals. The organisation aspires to form a network of talented youth, enabling them to connect locally and internationally to facilitate greater exposure and appreciation of their work and to inspire them to choose a career in the film industry. FUNN’s goal is to foster talent through its activities and events and to form a close-knit community of skilled and dynamic young people, who can share their experiences and expertise on a global scale through the promotion of their media work at film festivals across the world.
