Game Changing technologies take centre stage at (ME Static)

The oil and gas industry has long recognised the importance of understanding and influencing the role of innovation and technological advancements for static equipment.  As the equipment’s performance is key to increased profitability, experts who gathered at the Middle East Static Equipment Engineering & Maintenance Conference held at Waldorf Astoria on 24th April, discussed varied strategies to power a sustainable outcome for the industry.

“The risks from static equipment are much more compared to other equipment categories due to the large number of equipment parts and amount of contained fluid. In a typical petrochemical or refining facility, a substantial share of the maintenance / capital cost and failures or reliability events are linked with static equipment. A significant proportion of industry incidents which have resulted in asset loss or injuries have also been associated to static equipment. As such, it is important to define and outline innovative solutions that will enlighten the end usage and operations,” said Samuel Benedict from Aldrich International, organisers of the event.

Offering solutions for the current challenges and showcasing some of the best practices of the industry, Middle East Static Equipment Engineering & Maintenance Conference is a premier static equipment event gathering that aims to drive technological progress to address the needs of end user and towards more efficient and reliable equipment with an aim to improve the overall productivity of plants / organizations.

Highlighting modern design tools of the industry, the experts who gathered at the conference also shed light on distinguished topics featuring engineering and design standards with Maintenance & Reliability as a special focus due to the sheer number of dwindling equipment and quantity of stored fluid in refineries or a petrochemical facility. Witnessing participation from the most renowned industrial giants, manufacturers, Chief Engineers of oil producers, refinery’s and power generators, the expert-led event also highlighted key areas as improving lightning safety of crude tanks, root cause of water leaks, overhauling of floating roof crude oil, heat exchangers, cost, efficiency and environmental considerations of medium voltage electric heating technology and much more.

“The performance and uptime of heavy static equipment play an important role in business profitability in industries such as oil & gas, mining, and chemicals and in safety for the power generation industry. The major operations in the oil and gas industry depend upon the quality and reliability of static equipment and therefore, these machines form an important part of infrastructure. One of the most important metrics used in these operations is return on capital employed, which depends in large part on the availability of static equipment. As such, the conference aims to bring to focus innovative technologies which features ground-breaking and advanced solutions to optimise the life-cycle of the static equipment. In addition, these advanced and expert sessions will not only help visualize future process behaviour of the equipment, but also improve decision making and performance of the industry leaders,” added Samuel Benedict.

Showcasing game-changing new technologies in the area of static equipment, the Middle East Static Equipment Engineering & Maintenance Conference featured 75 per cent international visitors, 80 per cent decision makers and 65 per cent trade visitors from Saudi Council of Engineers, Sahara Petrochemicals Company, Orpic, Saudi Aramco, ADNOC Gas Processing and SABIC among many others. The event witnessed more than 200 visitors and over 150 delegates on the first day of the event.
