GE Gas Power Menasa Partnership Summit 2020 Strengthens Regional Supply Chain

More than 130 organizations from over 30 countries attended the GE Gas Power Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) Partnership Summit 2020. The event brings together select GE suppliers every year to collectively identify the opportunities and address the challenges to engineering and delivering cleaner, more accessible energy that people depend on across MENASA and beyond.

The annual summit was organized as a virtual forum for the very first time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and comprised of broadcasts, online trainings, an interactive question and answer session, as well as individual, one-on-one supplier meetings. The topics discussed included: safety and compliance; regional market dynamics; the role of gas in the evolving energy landscape; supply chain and sourcing; operations and execution excellence; regional product services; and engineering partnerships and synergy.

The Summit also included a ‘Key Suppliers’ awards ceremony to recognize the achievements of organizations that delivered exceptional outcomes in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Competitiveness and Culture. From Saudi Arabia, Sinsina Corner Company was recognized for driving a ‘Safety First’ culture. Sinsina Corner maintained high environment, health and safety (EHS) standards by implementing GE’s EHS guidelines at customer sites where they were executing projects with GE.

GE has supported the development of Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure for over 80 years. Today, there are more than 500 GE gas turbines installed in the Kingdom and GE-built technologies help generate over 50 percent of the country's electricity. The company’s investments in the country include the GE Manufacturing and Technology Center (GEMTEC) campus, which has a Service and Repairs Center for gas turbines, a Hot & Harsh Research & Development Center, a Monitoring & Diagnostics Center for the remote monitoring of power generation assets, as well as GE Saudi Advanced Turbines (GESAT), a standalone JV between Dussur and GE that furthers industrial localization efforts in the Kingdom and is equipped to manufacture heavy duty gas turbines and components. GEMTEC and GESAT are playing a strong role in helping to achieve the goals outlined under Saudi Vision 2030 by nurturing local talent and suppliers, further diversifying Saudi Arabia’s economic base and promoting exports.
