Get ready for a “Super Season” of fresh and exclusive entertainment straight from the US

It’s the end of summer and the start of the TV “Super Season”. This is when OSN, the region’s leading entertainment network, brings all the highly anticipated brand new shows straight from the Hollywood production houses direct to TV fans in the Middle East, within just days of the US premiere. 

No other network in the region delivers as much premium entertainment, and Super Season sees OSN’s content offering expand even more in September and October, packing the schedules full of fresh, new and returning entertainment series, thought-provoking documentaries and Arabic dramas. 

Here are just some of the top shows to watch out for: 

General Entertainment
 

• New Amsterdam, NBC’s new medical drama, is anticipated to be a breakout hit. Premiering on OSN Series HD Firston Monday 1 October at 8pm (KSA), the fast-paced seriesisinspired by Bellevue, America’s oldest public hospital. 
  Starring Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist), the show follows Dr Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director, who’s caring yet uncompromising style sets to shake up the status quo at the ailing hospital. Fans that love pulse-stopping emergency room dramas get a double dose as the second season of 
  The Good Doctoralso premiers on the Monday 1 October at 7pm (KSA). 
   
• For high stakes family drama, power struggles and some serious sibling rivalry, Succession, a brand new HBO drama has it all, and more. The 10-episode series follows a wealthy yet dysfunctional American global media family, headed by a Rupert Murdoch-esque media mogul, Logan Roy (Brian Cox). Premiering on OSN First HD Home of HBOon Monday 10 September at 9pm (KSA), Successionfeatures a stellar cast that includes Jeremy Strong (The Big Short), Kieran Culkin (Fargo), Alan Ruck (The Exorcist) and Sarah Snook (Steve Jobs and Winchester).

• Magnum P.I.may ring a bell with some viewers that remember the original 1980’s series starring Tom Selleck. This action-packed reboot brings the show right up-to-date, with Jay Hernandez (Suicide Squad) stepping into Selleck’s bright floral shirts as the eponymous Thomas Magnum. Here, Magnum the ex-Navy SEAL, returns home from service in Afghanistan and uses his military skills to become a private investigator in Hawaii. Magnum P.I.premieres on Thursday 4 October at 7pm (KSA).

• HBO’sSharp Objects,will be looking to make a piercing incision into the hearts of TV viewers in the Middle East. From the director ofBig Little Lies, this slickly produced crime mini-series stars Amy Adams (Nocturnal Animals), as a reporter who confronts her psychological demons when she returns to her hometown to cover a violent murder. Premiering on OSN Play, Sharp Objectswill be available as a complete box set from Sunday 9 September. 

• If period drama hits your TV sweet spot, you’ll love Vanity Fair. Adapted from Thackeray’s literary classic, this tale is set against the backdrop of the NapoleonicWars, and follows Becky Sharp (Olivia Cooke) as she attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English society. Vanity Fair premieres on ITV Choice on Monday 3 September, at 9pm (KSA).

The Emmy Awards

• Honouring the biggest and brightest stars in today’s TV universe, OSN brings live and exclusive coverage of the 70thEmmy Awardson OSN Series HD Firston Tuesday 18 September at 3am (KSA), with a prime-time repeat at 7pm.

• OnOSN First HD - Home of HBO, OSN presents ‘Reality Check’, a brand new block of topical documentaries, every Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 12am from 14 September with a premiere every Saturday evening at 8pm (KSA).
   The block will launch on 14 September with the premiere of John McCain: For whom The Bell Tolls and otherSaturday premieres to look forward to are: Swiped: Hooking up in The Digital Agewhich sheds a light on how social networking apps affect modern relationships, and premiers on Saturday 15 September, at 8pm(KSA). It Will Be Chaosfollows the stories of individuals fleeing their native countries in Africa and the Middle East seeking a better life in Europe, despite the dangers. Saturday 22 September, at 8pm (KSA).

• On Discovery Channel everyone’s favourite survivalist, Bear Grylls, plucks celebrities out of the lap of luxury and puts them into the unforgiving wilderness in Running Wild with Bear Grylls from Tuesday 18 September, at 9.50pm (KSA). On National Geographic, The Science of Stupid returns for a sixth season from Monday 17 September at 3pm (KSA).Watch as Dallas Campbell investigates a host of new mishaps featuring fearless, if foolhardy, individuals from around the world. 

Arabic

• Super Season ushers in brand new content for Arabic viewers too, and for the first time ever OSN will be exclusively debuting three new Russian series exclusively onOSN Yahala Al Oula HD.

• Ta’ehat,follows the life of Katia as her life suddenly falls apart when her husband unexpectedly dies while away on a business trip, and the investigation into his death unearths his double life.

• Al Oumala’, gives viewers a touch of James Bond-style espionage but with a twist – the two lead characters are teachers. When they’re not taking down terrorists and smugglers, they’re in the classroom teaching maths and science.
   
• Asrar w Akatheebis a chilling murder mystery, which kicks off when a jogger finds the body of missing child while out on his daily run. As the town reels from the discovery, suspicion and secrets arise. 

• Watch dramas straight out of Russia on Sunday 2 September,Sunday 16 Septemberand Wednesday 26 Septemberrespectively, all at 7pm (KSA).
   
• Original stories from across the Arab world also form a strong part of OSN’s Super Season package, and three new series premiere on 9 September, in a back-to-back trio of new and exclusive Arabic dramas starting on the same day. 
   
• Starting with Akher Shita’a. This brand new Gulf-region drama series depicts the action and excitement that ensues when a father builds an orphanage in order to raise his five children.Premiering at 8pm (KSA).

• Following that comes season two of popular Turkish drama Fadila Khanum wa Banat’ha. The new season returns with more family feuds, and the ambitious matriarch, Fadila Khanum, still seeking wealth for her family by any means necessary. Premiering at 9pm (KSA). 

• Last, but by no means least, is brand new series Coma, a heartwarming drama following the lives of a group of Syrian war victims and their daily struggles living in Damascus and the UAE. Comapremieres at 11pm (KSA), on OSN Yahala Al Oula HD.
