GOIC meets the GCC Standardization Organization delegation

In an effort to promote the role of standardisation in Gulf industries

GOIC Secretary General Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel met a delegation from the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) headed by His Excellency Mr. Nabil Bin Amin Mulla, GSO Secretary General at the headquarters of the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) in Doha, Qatar.
This meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ali Hamed Al-Mulla, GOIC Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Projects, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Al-Mukhaini, GOIC Assistant Secretary General for Industrial Information and Studies and directors of departments at GOIC.
Mr. Al-Ageel delivered a speech in which he highlighted the importance of cooperation between GOIC and GSO and the necessity to enhance mutual cooperation and expertise exchange to contribute to the development of Gulf economies in general and Gulf industrial sector in particular.
Mr. Mulla opined that the cooperation and integration between GSO and GOIC allows the industrial sector to actively take part in developing Gulf and international standards in a way that meets the requirements of Gulf industries.
Furthermore, Mr. Sami Bin Fahad Al-Braidi, training specialist at GSO offered an overview on the organisation, its foundation, scope of work and role in regulating industrial products, notably imports. Mr. Al-Braidi highlighted GSO’s key achievements, namely creating a Unified Standard System (Metrology) for member states and establishing a new Regional Metrology Organization (GulfMet), the Association of Gulf Laboratories, the GCC Accreditation Centre and the GCC Standardization Training Centre.
Moreover, the GSO delegation attended a presentation about GOIC’s activities such as the Industrial Market Intelligence Portal (IMI Plus), the Manufacturing Investment Opportunities Program (MIOP), the Industrial Technical Assistance Program (ITA), the Industrial Studies and Policies Program (ISP), the Training and Capacity Development Program (TCD), in addition to an overview on GOIC’s upcoming projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue to cooperate, particularly through joint workshops, seminars and conferences on topics of common interest, standardisation, investments in the standardisation services sector and strengthening its connection with the industrial sector in order to achieve the objectives of the GCC Economic Agreement.
