Government Summit kicks off today

60 high-profile speakers to address the annual summit, 2,000 officials to participate Top governments officials from across the country will gather at Madinat Jumeirah for the third Government Summit, starting from today (Monday).
More than 60 high-profile speakers, including world leaders, decision-makers, ministers, CEOs, leaders in government innovation, government officials and experts will share ideas, latest studies and techniques on the future of government services during the three-day event.
Around 2,000 people are expected to attend more than 30 interactive sessions that will be kick-started by Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the summit is being organised under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments'.
Among other celebrity speakers on Monday are Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, who will speak at noon, followed by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as Queen Rania of Jordan, who will deliver the main address in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, will head a plenary session, while Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder, Apple Inc, will also speak at a plenary session in the afternoon.
Launching a special initiative on day two will be Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The last day of the summit will see local administrators Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, address the morning plenary session.
Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, will address the final session of the day.
This will be followed by the presentation of the Best M-Government Service Award by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Ohood Al Roumi, Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Government Summit, said the success of the summit highlights its significance as the biggest international platform of its kind to explore future governments.
She added the Government Summit is building on its successful partnerships at the regional and international level with leading international organisations such as the United Nations, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, and World Economic Forum, as well as private sector companies. The Government Summit is also aiming to improve its knowledge partnerships with educational institutions, universities, thought leaders and experts from all over the world.
In partnership with the Government Summit, Thomson Reuters will launch its report ‘Innovation in Government Services', highlighting innovative services, key trends and programmes offered by select governments, emphasising the position of the Government Summit as a global platform to share knowledge and experiences to develop governments of future.
The report focuses on the sectors of education, health and social services to deliver qualitative insights into key issues to be discussed during the summit.
