Habib Medical Group and Avaya Continue to Lead the Transformation of Healthcare Delivery in Saudi Arabia

Technology in healthcare has moved beyond innovation in diagnostic tools, to now enabling hospitals and other healthcare organisations to use technology as a tool for driving efficiency and streamlining operations. Dr. Sulaiman Habib Medical Group (HMG), one of the largest providers of comprehensive healthcare services in the MENA region, and Avaya, a global leader in business communications software, systems, and services, have once again raised the bar on technology implementation at HMG’s new and high-tech Al Suwaidi Hospital.

In preparation for HMG’s and Avaya’s joint participation at the HIMSS Middle East Conference in Riyadh between 12th and 13th October, a delegation of senior executives from Avaya visited HMG’s Al Suwaidi Hospital, where they were given a tour of the new facility. Dr. Suleiman AlTawyan, Vice President of Hospitals Operations, Eng. Abdulelah Al Mayman, Chief Information Officer, and Abdulaziz M. Al-Faryan, Executive Director of Media & Public Relations and Director of Communications, HMG, hosted the Avaya delegation, which was led by Nidal Abou-ltaif, President, Avaya International, Mohammed Areff, Vice President, Middle East, Africa and Turkey and Fadi Hani, Managing Director, Avaya North Gulf.

HMG and Avaya executives discussed the various ways in which the two organisation can support the transformation of the healthcare sector in the Kingdom and have agreed to collaborate on building a healthcare-focused cloud-based infrastructure that can be used by the wider industry. As the Kingdom gears up towards the national Vision 2030, healthcare is one of the key sectors that is earmarked for transformation, and HMG is driving this change through the sector-focused cloud solution, in association with Avaya, focusing on operational efficiency, a fully digital patient experience, and real-time collaboration for physicians, laboratories, and other components of the healthcare delivery process.

The HMG Group has previously implemented Avaya solutions across all its hospitals in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain, and continues to work with Avaya to ensure updates to the latest global communication solutions and consistent delivery of an optimal health experience including responding to patients quickly and effectively.

Committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities for healthcare, HMG’s new Al Suwaidi Hospital is a digital medical facility, and the first of its kind in the Middle East. A cloud-based technology infrastructure enables the hospital to be a fully-paperless operation, and multimedia connectivity between diverse departments ensures that the time taken for reporting and maintaining records is greatly reduced. This enables physicians to focus on more patients and seamlessly transfer cases to other departments, laboratories, or the billing section. It also allows the hospital to maintain digital records, which are useful in generating patient medical histories, as well as meet regulatory requirements.

QUOTES

“As leaders in the healthcare sector, we see it as our responsibility to contribute towards the advancement of the entire industry, so as to place the Saudi Healthcare offering on par with the most advanced in the world, in line with the national Vision 2030. We are especially proud to partner with Avaya in this outreach, and believe that our combined strength and expertise will ensure that our cloud-based, healthcare-focused package will be an invaluable resource for healthcare in the Kingdom.”

Nasser Alhuqbani, CEO, HMG

“Avaya is proud to stand alongside HMG and lend our considerable global expertise in the area of healthcare technology as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia transforms sectors such as healthcare in the run-up to 2030. HMG has been a regional trend-setter in healthcare technology adoption, and working with them across multiple properties has helped Avaya build a wealth of expertise around the unique needs of the healthcare sector and the various touchpoints at which the experience can be digitally transformed. The Al Suwaidi Hospital is a great example of the strides that a healthcare facility can take by using technology as the foundation on which the entire healthcare offering is built.”
